The typical Chocolate eggs for Easter

The typical Chocolate eggs for Easter

Are you in Florence for Easter? Here you find 5 things to do to feel a real Florentine!

Colomba

Colomba

1 – Food, Food, Food!

First of all, Easter in Florence means food and sweet things to eat. Knowing Florence means getting in touch with its culinary tradition. That’s why You can not miss the traditional boiled eggs, blessed during the Mass of Easter and eaten by all family members (more often in churches are blessed even chocolate eggs, certainly more popular with children, who they receive them as a gift on the occasion of Easter). Among the desserts – which can also be found in most bakeries Florence – stands the Colomba, a leavened cake with candied fruit, covered with almonds and icing, which in Italy is a typical cake at Easter as well as Panettone and Pandoro are for Christmas. During Quaresima, all over Tuscany, you can find in many pastry shops and bakeries the traditional pan di ramerino. It’s a kind of sweet bun with rosemary and raisins (by tradition is brought to bless the Mass of Holy Thursday). In Florence, you can also buy some chocolate biscuits called quaresimali, made with cocoa and in the form of letters, appreciated by all the children.

2 – The so called ‘Gita fuori porta’

Typically, the Easter day is fully dedicated to friends and family. A very typical tradition is the so called gita fuori porta, which means a short journey outside Florence. If you want to manage a trip from Florence, you just have to choose whether to orient yourself to Chiantishire or Mugello in the countryside, Versilia or Maremma by the sea, or the villages and cities of art Tuscan. The alternatives are equally valid if you go by car, but if you have to rely only on trains and buses (remember that Easter Monday is considered a public holiday), then you may opt for Siena, Lucca, Pisa and Arezzo, which are about one hour from Florence.

3 – Scoppio del Carro

The most awaited event of Easter in Florence is the famous Scoppio del Carro (Explosion of the Cart), which takes place on Easter Sunday from about 10 in Piazza Duomo. It is a tradition that began over 300 years ago. The protagonist of the ceremony is the Brindellone – a 9 meters tall wagon – that is pulled by oxen from his depot to Piazza Duomo. At around 11, during Mass, the Archbishop of Florence starts from the altar the Colombina, which is a rocket in the form of a dove (symbol of the Holy Spirit) that through a long thread reaches the Brindellone and lightis all the fireworks mounted on it. The fiery chariot is a show that will amaze the tourists, but also the Florentines themselves, waiting to see the back Colombina altar Maggiore. According to tradition, for if Colombina returns to the altar the year will be positive.

Vendere casa e trovare acquirenti stranieri

Appartamento Rufus

Appartamento Rufus

Vendere casa e trovare acquirenti stranieri?

Rural House Allegria in Tuscany

Rural House Allegria in Tuscany

1) Vendita in esclusiva oppure no?

Petrognano - Tuscan Feeling

Petrognano – Tuscan Feeling

Tuscan Feeling

Tuscan Feeling

4) Prezzi diversi in posti diversi
