Samurai and Manga Robots at Stibbert Museum. Japan meet Florence!

Until October 10th, 2017 – at the Stibbert Museum – you can visit the exhibition “Robot Fever: Samurai and Robots Compared” In Japan, during the seventies, comic strips and animation films were invented, featuring super robot protagonists called to protect the country from a whole host of alien threats. The features and values that these new heroes demonstrate are based on those traditionally associated with the ancient Samurai warriors who, after a period of eclipse in the post-war period, regain the favor of the general public. The design of modern warriors is full of hands to the stylistic sample provided by the samurai weapons and armor, as well as the principles and moral values of the ancient Japanese fighters are now made by modern super heroes. The exhibition was made possible thanks to the passion of clever collectors who, in line with the spirit that animated Frederick Stibbert in the creation of his museum, gathered in their collections of objects, such as robots, otherwise destined to be scattered.

The artist is famous for its use of reflective stainless steel, transforming it into a series of abstract objects that reveal their imposing majesty and beauty. In the Limonaia of the Garden of Boboli, the artist will look to nature in order to discover the chaos. His primary source of inspiration is that of Naica Crystal Caves in Mexico: Xhixha formulates a complex response to seemingly random compositions, where at the same time we find works of art marked by its characteristic imprint, the same that made it recognizable in Worldwide.
